Sometime in early May, I decided I was actually going to do this after thinking about it for a little while.
I eventually had a list of songs (I don't remember exactly, but I want to say I neared 450 songs picked out) in which I knew had meaningful lyrics to me. It took a few days as I scrolled through my entire iTunes library of music and of course had other work to do.
The next step was to look up the complete lyrics to every single one of these songs. I ended up with a document of 16 pages (10 point font) of 3,876 words.
Initially, I printed out this document and color coded each line - love, learning, fear, etc. There were 11 categories in all. As I started to use more and more lines though, it was a pain to flip through pages with so many lines crossed out. Now I use my laptop and delete lines as I write (after I'm sure they are in the place in which I want them).
As of my current writing (06/03/2017), I have eight completed "parts" and still have 2112 words to go. I love piecing it together, but it also gets tiring and I definitely need my breaks. I lost my focus for about a week or so - and even considered giving up on what remained. But for some reason today I was brought back to it - and decided to actually create a blog to share my work.
